During discovery time this week we have been thinking about winter. We looked outside at the trees. At this time of year they have lost their leaves and look very bare. We used the sticks in the Tuft Spot to make bare winter trees.

We decided that blues, white, grey and black were cold, wintery colours. We used these coloured shapes to create repeating patterns on the smart board.

Other activities out during discovery time have included cold coloured gems on the light table. Children were encouraged to create a repeating pattern and some children even made the first letter of their name. There were various wintery coloured things in the tactile tray, painting and printing with cold colours and unifix cubes in the maths station to make cold coloured repeating patterns. The children have been very busy.
